IPS Folcroft provides component-level repair and testing of inverter and power-electronic assemblies used in Komatsu and legacy P&H mining equipment. Our focus is helping mining operations return repairable equipment to service, extend the useful life of high-value electronics and develop dependable critical spares.

P&H Mining Inverter Repair

P&H mining equipment is now part of Komatsu following the acquisition of Joy Global, but many installed machines and spare assemblies are still identified by P&H names and part numbers. IPS Folcroft services P&H mining inverter and power-electronic assemblies, with our field experience centered on ABB-equipped P&H systems.

If the unit is identified as P&H, Joy Global, Komatsu Mining or Komatsu, send us the part number, machine application and fault information for evaluation.

Mining Inverter & Power Electronics Repair

  • Inverter assemblies
  • IGBT and power semiconductor sections
  • Gate-driver and firing circuits
  • Control and interface electronics
  • Power supplies
  • DC bus and rectifier sections
  • Cooling-related electrical failures
  • Obsolete and difficult-to-source assemblies

Repair. Test. Return to Service.

A failed IGBT, gate-driver board or visibly burned component may be only part of the problem. Our process evaluates the assembly for related electrical, thermal, contamination and insulation damage, performs component-level repairs where practical, and tests the repaired unit before return to the customer.

Support for Legacy P&H Equipment

Legacy equipment can remain productive for decades, while electronic assemblies become increasingly difficult or expensive to replace. IPS Folcroft can evaluate older P&H inverter assemblies for repair and can work with customers to identify critical electronic spares that may benefit from proactive repair or stocking.

Critical Spares & Rotating Repair Programs

For operations with multiple Komatsu or P&H machines, IPS can help develop a repair-and-spares strategy for critical inverter assemblies. A repaired spare can reduce exposure to extended downtime when the next failure occurs.

Common Mining Inverter Failures We Repair

Mining inverter systems operate in an unusually demanding environment. IPS Folcroft has found failures ranging from contamination and heat-related deterioration to damaged IGBTs, gate-driver electronics, insulation and power connections. The examples below are actual conditions found during mining inverter inspections and repairs.

What We Look For

Our evaluation can include inspection of IGBT power modules, gate-driver boards, DC bus and power connections, insulation, cooling components, capacitors, control electronics, wiring and signs of contamination or thermal stress. Where practical, the objective is not simply to replace the visibly failed component, but to identify related damage that could lead to a repeat failure.

Start With the Part Number

Have a failed Komatsu or P&H mining inverter? Send IPS Folcroft the manufacturer or legacy brand, model or part number, machine/application, fault description and photos of the unit. We can use that information to determine the next step for repair evaluation.
