Yaskawa Low Voltage Adjustable Speed Drives

The Yaskawa U1000 Industrial MATRIX Drive is a high-performance Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) that uses Matrix technology instead of traditional rectifier/inverter architecture. It stands out for its ability to offer full regenerative capability, high efficiency, and low harmonic distortion without the need for external filters or regenerative units.

🔧 Key Features:
  1. Matrix Technology (No DC Bus)
    • Replaces conventional diode/IGBT front ends with nine bidirectional switches.
    • Converts AC to AC directly—no intermediate DC bus.
  2. Full Regeneration Capability
    • Allows energy to flow back to the power source, making it ideal for applications with frequent braking or overhauling loads.
    • Eliminates need for braking resistors or regenerative units.
  3. Low Harmonic Distortion
    • Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is typically < 5%, meeting or exceeding IEEE 519 standards.
    • No need for external harmonic filters.
  4. High Efficiency
    • Efficiency levels up to 96%, thanks to minimal power conversion stages.
  5. Compact Footprint
    • Combines inverter and regenerative functionality in one enclosure.
    • Saves space compared to traditional drive + regen packages.
  6. Motor Compatibility
    • Operates standard induction or permanent magnet motors.
    • Suitable for new installations or retrofit of existing motors.
  7. Wide Voltage and Power Range
    • 3-phase 200V class: up to 110 kW (150 HP)
    • 3-phase 400V class: up to 630 kW (800 HP)
  8. Safe Torque Off (STO)
    • SIL3 / PLe certified built-in safety feature.

📈 Ideal Applications:
  • Centrifuges
  • Elevators
  • HVAC Fans and Pumps (with braking cycles)
  • Cranes and Hoists
  • Test Stands
  • Conveyor Systems
  • Any application where energy savings and harmonic compliance are critical

✅ Benefits:
  • Energy Savings: Regenerates unused energy back to the grid
  • Cleaner Power: No need for harmonic mitigation equipment
  • Reduced Heat: Lower energy loss improves system cooling
  • Simplified Design: All-in-one solution reduces component count
